Best would be a matter of opinion, so i will leave it at that. What your question triggered with me, is that in my practice it is common to flatten a marketplace VP into a product VP for every role you defined. In essence it is our onboarding strategy and follows after designing our integrated marketplace VP.
On innovation platforms, we could say: wix, shopify and google suite!
An excellent example of "on the making" is Klarna, Revolut and Savr, all from Europe. They start as a financial tool, and right now, they are integrating a marketplace.
