Digital platforms are increasingly recognized as important tools to accelerate circular economy. The principal argument is that they, through the creation of new market places, provide the missing link that connects various industries and thereby closes the circularity loop. Yet, platforms also serve additional functions, many that are both necessary for and complementary to a successful market platform. These additional functions are potentially even more important in the context of green transformation. In this panel we shall discuss some of these functions and explore their role and potential significance.
