Erik is currently the Ecosystem Strategy Lead as part of the strategy and innovation team of Portbase. With a background in business engineering he consulted several large Dutch public and private companies on strategic topics related to collaboration in supply chains. Nowadays his focus is on broadening the collaboration in the maritime logistics ecosystem with the already existing Portbase community of more than 4700 companies. In his vision the potential value of public-private ecosystems are a key element in overcoming global challenges by fostering co-innovation and cross sectoral cooperation.

As the neutral and independent logistics platform for the Dutch ports, Portbase mission is to build the smartest port communities. Founded in 2009 by Port of Rotterdam and Port of Amsterdam Portbase connects all parties in the logistics chains via the Port Community System. By facilitating data sharing between companies and information exchange with governments the community is able to work faster, more efficiently and at lower costs. Portbase has a not for profit motive when working with public and private companies. Together with a growing community, Portbase is making data sharing increasingly valuable for a seamless, sustainable and secure flow of goods.

Erik holds a master’s degree in Strategic Management at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam on the topic of strategic alliances in developed and emerging markets.
