Mikael Román is a Swedish native working as project coordinator of the “UNECE Transformative Innovation Network” (ETIN), a peer learning platform that supports and fosters innovation to drive sustainable societal transformations. A social scientist by training, Mikael spent his career working on issues related to sustainability, climate change, public policy, innovation, and competitive strategies. In this pursuit he worked four years (2006-2010) as Senior Research Fellow at Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI). Between 2011 and 2018, he was Science Counsellor at the Embassy of Sweden in Brazil. Before entering UNECE he worked as Senior Analyst at the Swedish Agency for Growth Policy Analysis.

Mikael holds a Doctorate (PhD) in Political Science from Uppsala University, post-doctoral studies at Stockholm School of Economics and Center for International Studies, MIT, with a present affiliation as Associate Professor at Linköping University.
