Synchronous #networks built on "spontaneous togetherness" — like Meerkat, Houseparty, and most recently, Clubhouse — are only valuable if users are active at the same time. This can strain #liquidity as they attempt to grow — a challenge that asynchronous networks like Facebook and Snapchat do not face. These networks have two options to overcome this challenge. They can either pivot to emphasize asynchronous features or target a different set of users that are more likely to be active at the same time.
